Kia ora! I’m a communicator who‘s written, taught, filmed and built community across four continents. I’ve reported across Latin America, taught writing in Shanghai and Abu Dhabi, and run campaigns here in New Zealand.
Here’s what I’ve learned: the beginning of great communication is to listen, take good notes, and then go back and listen more. Such close attention is the bedrock of everything I do in journalism, travel writing, workshops, coaching, media relations, social media campaigns, and any space where the right story will get your idea over the line. Iif you listen to people long enough and carefully enough, you can hear the future.
I learned all this by going where I have to go. I grew up in Tempe, Arizona, sister city to New Zealand’s own Lower Hutt, then set out to see the world. I’ve lived and worked in Texas, Alaska, New York City, Mexico, Honduras, Bolivia, China and few other places besides. My family and I have now settled here in the beautiful Wairarapa, where I love to shoot video from the train.
